Psalm 23
1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
This Psalm is one of my favorites. It gives me such comfort during my hard times and hope for a brighter tomorrow. This Psalm reminds me that God will take care of me, not just with the essentials, but with an overflow!
Some take aways from Psalm 23:
- We have a relationship with God – our Shepherd.
- We have confidence during our challenging times.
- There is no situation too dark or difficult for God.
- God will never forsake you.
- God’s provision and protection will watch over you.
- God provides power to persevere.
- God provides power to direct.
- God provides power to make intelligent decisions.
- God’s supply will never run dry.
- God has more than enough.
- God’s presence has no borders.
- God’s provision has no termination.
- God’s protection can’t be infiltrated.
- God’s power has no match.
Even though our paths are not always peaceful, we can be assured there is no need to be afraid! He will make our paths straight. No one is exempt from trials, but Praise the Lord, He leads us or carries us through them. He is the great Shepherd!
God is faithful and true and He will uphold His word. This is the source of our hope, our peace and our comfort.
