I truly appreciate the biblical scripture that says, “We are in the world, but not of the world.” We understand that this is our temporary home and we are moving to a better place, but while we are here, we must be steadfast and unmovable in our standing on the Word of God. Even though we are in the midst of so many chaotic things, our comfort rests in Jesus and Jesus alone.
We are allowed to live gratifying lives, lives filled with joy and contentment. Jesus gives us this right as children of the King. We are still free to praise and worship, to help those in need and visit the sick. We are instruments of His will and our effectiveness comes through our obedience to Him.
Even though God’s beauty surrounds us, we must still be aware that there is a darkness here that will consume us if we allow it to. We must live, think and act like ambassadors of Jesus Christ, for the Kingdom of God. We are joint heirs with Christ. Personal pleasure is no longer our priority, as it once was, but our true worship to God and portraying our lives as lights in this dark world is.
